Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) corrects the bulges and wrinkles around your eyes, resulting in a more rested and youthful appearance. It may also relieve the eyes from the excess weight of redundant skin, leading to less eye fatigue and an improved field of vision.

Eyelid surgery can also be performed on fairly young individuals to correct hereditary heavy eyelids. This type of surgery is also popular among people of oriental descent.

The incisions are made along the natural folds of the eyelids, where scars are least visible. The excess skin and fat are then removed.

In many cases, the incision is completely hidden on the inside of the lower lid and no sutures are used Laser resurfacing is often combined with a lower lid surgery to improve the tone of the lower lid skin, reduce lines and wrinkles. For closure, absorbable sutures are used. Immediately following surgery, you may experience some tearing, itching, dryness, irritation, eyelid fatigue and drooping.

Before After - 5 Days Post Op

You may develop tiny pimples along the scar line. Do not be alarmed. These symptoms tend to disappear within a few days to a few weeks.

Because this operation is not carried out on the eye itself, but on the eyelids, visual impairment is a very remote possibility and has never occurred with Dr Deans.

If you have low brows, they are often corrected at the same time as the eyelid surgery. The wrinkles at the outer corner of your eyes (crow's- feet) and the fine lines around your lower lids diminish but do not disappear after surgery. However, these lines may be improved with special skin treatments following surgery.

On the average, you are presentable and may return to work one to two weeks after surgery. Your result will continue to improve for at least six months following surgery. You will look five to seven years younger following surgery.... and you will maintain this age difference forever.
