Upper Lid Surgery
A refined approach to a fresher, more rested appearance
The eyes are one of the most expressive features of the face, and over time the upper eyelids can begin to look heavy, tired, or less defined. Upper lid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is designed to gently refresh this area by removing excess skin and fullness from the upper eyelids, creating a smoother, lighter, and more youthful appearance
For many patients, upper lid surgery restores a brighter, more open look without changing the natural character of the face. The goal is subtle refinement — an elegant result that helps you look rested, refreshed, and naturally like yourself
What upper lid surgery can improve
Loose or overhanging upper eyelid skin that creates a hooded appearance.
Puffiness or fullness in the upper lids
A tired, heavy, or aged look around the eyes
In some patients, excess lid skin that may interfere with the upper field of vision
The procedure
Upper lid blepharoplasty is typically performed using local anesthetic, sometimes with medication to help you relax
A carefully placed incision is made within the natural eyelid crease, allowing excess skin and, when appropriate, underlying fullness to be refined while keeping the scar discreetly hidden
Because the treatment is tailored to each patient’s anatomy, the result is designed to feel balanced, natural, and in harmony with the rest of the face.
In some patients, the levator muscle which raises the lid , is weak or disinserted and needs to be reattached to the base of the lid to improve the lid height and contour . This ptosis correction can be done by itself or as part of an upper lid blepharoplasty.
Recovery
Some swelling and bruising are expected during the first several days after surgery, with gradual improvement over the following one to two weeks. You will need to ice the lids frequently in the first 2 day and rest up . There are no patches or bandages and there is very little pain .
As healing continues, the eyelids soften and settle, revealing a more refreshed and natural contour
